Services Provided

ATM AVIONICS DIVISION ambition is not to be a manufacturer only.

The transformation of former Eastern block countries from the centrally planned economy to the market one has given them an access to high, advanced technologies. Different, non-compatible standards have become prevalent onboard Polish aircraft. That have forced the need of combining all existing standards to provide the link between the ex-soviet technology and the modern Western one.

ATM fills this market hole providing:

  • equipment integration
  • consultations in application for the flight data analyses for:
    • flight safety and reliability improvement programs, and
    • operational quality assurance programs.

The transformation has also resulted in appearance of private aircraft and small operators. They need much more efficiency than large airlines, but the investment into great flight data processing centers is not economically acceptable for them. On the other hand the permanent aircraft condition monitoring is still required.

ATM has brought advanced technologies within the reach of small operator who wants expansive capabilities without an expensive investment.

To meet these new demands ATM also provides a wide range of services in full flight data processing and analyzing.

Polish Market

Being a relatively young company, ATM has achieved a strong position in the Polish market. Due to its flexibility and high mobility ATM is recognized as a company implementing the most modern technologies into Polish aviation. It is also known as a consultant and advisor in new trends in avionics. That has fruited in ATM participation in research and development works on numerous projects of new systems as well as retrofits of older ones.

Aviation Industry - Airplanes

There are two main airplanes producers in the Polish market:

  • PZL WSK Okecie, Warsaw - Transport Equipment Factory, and
  • WSK PZL Mielec, Mielec - Transport Equipment Corporation.

ATM has been cooperating closely with both of these companies in R&D works on new diagnostic systems. This has resulted in modern system for training support for PZL  130TC "Orlik", military turbo jet trainer manufactured by PZL WSK Okecie and M-28 "Sky Truck" produced in WSK PZL Mielec, as well. Both systems are based on ATM recording and analyzing equipment. Moreover, the engine and airframe diagnostic systems for these planes are also designed and manufactured by ATM.

ATM has been involved in design of flight data acquisition and recording system for I-22 "Iryda" jet trainer.

ATM is also engaged in certification procedures for M-28 and I-22.

Currently, there are R&D works being performed under government program on design of a new system linking the ex-soviet technology already installed onboard ANM-28 (transducers) and the modern one (flight data recording system meeting Western standards required for certification procedure). That will allow to introduce this plane into the Western market.
Also, ATM designs and supplies harnessing systems for engines made at PZL Rzeszow - Transportation Equipment Factory.

Aviation Industry - Helicopters

R&D works undertaken in this field are similar to those provided for fixed wings aircraft. ATM cooperates with the only helicopters manufacturer in Poland: WSK PZL Swidnik S.A., Transport Equipment Factory located in Swidnik.

A diagnostic system for W-3 and W-3A "Sokol" helicopters is currently being designed under government program. This system, together with ATM-QAR will allow full Western certification of these helicopters.

The long-lasting cooperation with WSK PZL Swidnik S.A. is focused on the largest common design: HUMS system for all helicopters coming from Swidnik.

Aviation Industry - Gliders

The extensive growth of ATM experience in recording and analyzing of flight data in various environments and rapid increase of flight safety and operational productivity requirements on the other hand, gave an occasion to extend the use of ATM flight data recording systems to gliders.

The flexible ATM-QAR has been adjusted to light aircraft needs. This installation has shown another, very important advantage of this solution: the simplification of a glider certification procedure. The Swift S-1 glider manufactured at Aircraft Manufacturing and Repair Works E. Marganski, Bielsko-Biala was the first one certified with the aid of flight data analysis (another one was Fox).

The new way of results evaluation in aerobatics challenges also appeared. The flight data analysis makes arbiters' work much easier and objective. ATM-QAR installation on board the winner of Glider Challenge seems to be a good example of this application.

Airlines

From the beginning ATM has been closely collaborating with Polish national carrier: LOT Airlines.

New types of aircraft appearing at LOT Airlines (ATRs, Boeings) and a change of avionics technology caused the need of complex monitoring of the flight data as well as the unification of existing flight data processing and analyzing systems.

Since the first successful ATM-QAR installation onboard LOT planes in 1989 ATM has taken part in a competition with foreign companies for recording systems supply. Lately, in result of a competition with Sfim, ATM has been chosen as a main supplier of flight data recording and analyzing systems.

Also, ATM provides software support for flight data analysis, upon LOT request. The most efficient cooperation is with LOT engine monitoring group.

Governmental Entities

Being recognized as a company introducing modern, advanced technologies into the Polish aviation market and focused on flight safety improvements and operational productivity, ATM is involved in projects organized by governmental entities and agencies. It is also involved in financial projects supervised by the Committee of Scientific Research.

On the other hand some of ATM R&D projects are performed under governmental programs.

ATM has got direct contacts with Polish ministries.

It cooperates with Ministry of Industry in promoting of advanced technologies, with Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations Bureau of Trade in Goods and Technologies Covered by International Control and with Ministry of Transportation as an advisor in aviation matters.

ATM is also recognized by General Inspectorate of Civil Aviation - Civil Aircraft Inspection Board as a source of the newest technologies and trends in the world avionics.

Polish Airports State Enterprise is closely collaborating with ATM in improvement of Warsaw approach radar data system allowing data transfer to noise monitoring system (ANOMS).

  • Military Academy of Technology.
    • The Academy closely cooperates with ATM in military application of ATM-made Smart Aircraft Integrated Monitoring System (SAIMS).

Polish Air Force

Operational productivity and flight safety improvements are interested subjects for Polish Air Force, as well. Due to ATM skills and achievements in civil aviation, there occurred new opportunities of collaboration: Polish military aviation.

The beginning was not easy: we have had to build trust in private civil manufacturer.

The first stage of ATM appearance in Polish military market was an exchange of knowledge on flight data.

Now, ATM is involved in many military programs and projects:

is a company dealing with overhaul of all Polish military aircraft (including those being exported) and all aircraft being in use in Polish Air Force. ATM has made an overhaul supporting system and a system for flight data recording, retrieving and analysis. These improvements have resulted in the maintenance time shortening and in obtaining a high economic effect. ATM-made quick access recorder has already been successfully installed onboard Su-22M4 ground attack fighter and TS-11 "Iskra" jet trainer.

Technical Institute of the Air Force.

This is the only center dealing with equipment inspection and certification for military applications in Poland. It also designs some accessories for military aviation. ATM collaborates with it in the field of avionics equipment certification procedures in accordance with Polish military standards.
